World-renowned Spanish soprano Montserrat Caballé was honoured with the Honour Medal of Peralada Festival, Barcelona, on the ocassion of its 25th edition.
Monserrat Caballé, currently a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador and founder of a foundation for needy children in Barcelona, is one of the greatest Opera legends of our century, with tens of memorable lyric performances both in Europe and the US. Although, most of you might be more familiar with the diva’s famous performance with Freddie Mercury in the 1988 hit single “Barcelona”, which I listen to at the moment from Queen’s Greatest Hits album.
The Peralada Festival showcases recitals by famous singers, symphony-choir concerts, operas, musical theatre, dance, jazz, pop, chamber music concerts and family-orientated performances and runs this year from 15 July to 15 August.
