I believe that ths is the first time we have ever seen any kind of catwalk show on stage an Olympic Games opening or closing ceremony. In the case of London 2012 though, the initiative is easily justified. Not only were the models featured some of -if not THE– favorites of fashion enthusiasts on the entire planet, the labels they were wearing on stage are also of some of the most internationally cherished and renowned.
Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell were wearing stunning Alexander McQueen gowns, Karen Elson was dressed in Burberry, Stella Tennant in Christopher Kane, Lily Cole in Erdem, Jourdan Dunn in Jonathan Saunders and Stephen Jones, Georgia May Jagger in Victoria Beckham, Lily Donaldson in Vivienne Westwood, and David Gandy in Paul Smith.
