Fancy style quotes claiming that “white is the new black” or “pink is the new red” often make headlines in fashion editorials, but, let’s be honest, every color has its own grace in fashion and there is no garment which can put into question the timeless, alluring elegance of a black dress – a “little black dress“, if we want to use the exact same words of the American Vogue and Coco Chanel that made it famous.
Following from our previous article on How to Style a Little Black Dress in 2014, today we investigate into its summer styling options. Black was never considered a summer color, still, it remains a favorite for red carpet looks and evening apparel throughout the year. The basic rule is always; the more plain the dress, the more creative you can be with accessorising it.
HOT: Glam up your little black dress, the Liliana Nova way. Add statement accessories such as this YSL evening handbag and matching black and gold high-heel sandals for a chic yet noticeable va va voom to your LBD outfit.
NOT: Total black is boring, unless it’s goth. And that is not the case in this picture. Sadly, Sarah-Jane Crawford failed the little black dress look by keeping it too quiet. Maybe try louder and brighter shoes and jewellery next time?
The black dress Rita Ora wore to the same party was certainly not a “little” one. Although, we loved how she matched it with a golden Anya Hindmarch clutch bag, all over glitter body dust and golden french manicure. Dazzling.
