The glamorous collection Legend Reborn – Sumerian Royalty by Barrus paid tribute to “the land where it all started.”
The Sumerian civilization of Mesopotamia stared developing advanced techniques in the art of weaving during the third millennium BC. Bas-reliefs of Sumerian civilization show figures wearing skirts and dresses composed of woven cloth and tufted fabrics. The wrapped and draped clothes of the Sumerians subsequently influenced the dress of the ancient Greeks and Egyptians.
Inspired by the chic Sumerian royalty of ancient times, Neslisah Yilmaz used the materials and top-level workmanship that still survive at those same lands to create an alluring collection of eveningwear.
ELABORATE EMBELLISHMENTS
The color palette of the collection was made up of deep purple, emerald green, petrol blue, mauve, silver, black, and dark yellow.
From revealing mini dresses and co-ords to elegant suits and ball gowns, many of the pieces included elaborate sequin embroideries and luxurious embellishments such as feathers and rhinestones.
CORSETS AND LACE
Delicate lace and masterfully crafted corsets were integrated in several looks of the collection, evoking bold romanticism to enhance the female figure.
Recycled fabrics were also used in the collection, the designer hoping that sustainability efforts “will enable many generations to enjoy legends reborn through many millenia.”
