Greek independent streamer Cinobo has teamed with local circular fashion accessories brand 3QUARTERS to upcycle advertising movie banners from 2024 theatre releases into a limited edition series of one-off tote bags.
Handmade in Athens, Greece, the collection was released online just on time for the festive season and as the cinematic year is approaching its conclusion.
ONCE A MOVIE BANNER, NOW A BAG JUST FOR YOU
“Where do giant movie theater banners go when they die? And how is it that we so easily part with images and stories that have left their mark on us?” Cinobo wonders in announcing the collection release.
Each piece “is a unique frame in the story of film” that “carries the spirit of indie cinema with a sustainable mindset,” 3QUARTERS describes.
Promoting ecological and environmental awareness, the 122 numbered tote bags created from the unexpected collaboration are entirely made from recyclable materials -repurposed used cinema banners from 100% polyester and straps made of Econyl® 100% recycled PET- thus contributing to waste reduction and a more sustainable philosophy in everyday life.
WEARABLE PIECES OF MOVIE HISTORY
The advertising movie banners cut out into tote bag patterns come from some of the most critically acclaimed fiction films of the past year.
Among those are The Teachers’ Lounge, The Paesants, The Zone of Interest, Scrapper, Fallen Leaves, Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World, and How to Have Sex.
The creations allow the wearer to “carry a piece of movie history wherever they go, as 3QUARTERS says.
Even more excitingly, no two bags are the same. Each piece has its own design, exactly as cut from the advertising movie banner of a favorite film.
The collection offers tote bags in two sizes to choose from -medium and large- and is available to buy online from 3QUARTERS.
Launched in 2020, Greek streamer Cinobo features award-winning, beloved and hard-to-find films from around the world and Greece, themed collections and exclusive premieres. Besides the online streaming service, Cinobo is also active as a distributor.
In addition, in the past 12 months, Cinobo took over the management and programming of two historic movie theatres in Athens, rescuing them at the brink of closure.
