I have long admired the work of Indian breakthrough designers such as Manish Arora and I have come upon many articles about the emergence of the Indian fashion industry in the last couple of years. Although, it wasn’t until I learnt about “Strand of Silk” that I really got to know what Indian contemporary designers stand for.
It all started with a Cheese and Wine event at Abacus London. There, at the “Strand of Silk” showcase event, I was bedazzled by the detailed work, the fine silk, the delicate embroidery and the creative imagination of Indian designers like Meera Mahadevia, Siddarta Tytles (Bollywood’s favourite fashion designer), AM:PM, Rajesh Pratap Singh and the “King” of Indian fashion, Tarun Tahiliani, who even dressed Lady Gaga during her visit to India.
